Walking round Hadleigh![]() Walking is probably the easiest, cheapest, most popular and most enjoyable way of keeping fit. We are fortunate in Hadleigh that we have a good number of round walks, signposted, waymarked and visible on the ground. They vary in length from a couple of miles round the river to say 8 miles out to Shelley and back. If you are prepared to make your starting point up to about 5 miles away, you can have a different walk every week of the year. To find out where to walk you can get leaflets from the library. The County Council publishes a list of Suffolk wide walks and booklets are available from the Hadleigh bookshop or from Avis. If you have a problem about a footpath ring Babergh District Council - you will find them very helpful. An easy way to find more interesting walks is to join the Ramblers Association. We walk Sundays fortnightly and Wednesdays monthly, mostly about 5 miles but with more challenging walks from time to time. The current programme includes walks from Hadleigh, Dunwich, Polstead, Hartest, Ickworth, Ager Fen and many more. If you want to know more about paths in the area or about the Ramblers ring 01473 822304 or 824321. |
